Health Choices Support Team is a service of the Mental Health Association of Northwestern PA. Health Choices Support Team is sponsored by Value Behavioral Health of PA, Inc., an affiliate of ValueOptions, a national managed care company.

Mission
The role of the Prevention, Education & Outreach (PE&O) Coordinator is to assist members to seek a wellness focus and educate members about rights, responsibilities, illness and recovery. The PE&O Coordinator also develops educational materials and provides training with the goal of empowering consumers to make informed consumer choices.
Assistance to Family Members:
- Provide hope for recovery
- Help individuals navigate the local behavioral health or mental health system
- Provide information about local behavioral health services
- Identify community resources
- Provide information on and referrals for Erie County support services
- Provide information regarding services available for Health Choices members
- Assist in locating appropriate support groups
- Increase awareness for providers about the consumer perspective
- Provide presentations on Health Choices and Recovery to consumer or family support groups or Human Service related organizations
- Advocate for consumers and family members and encourage self advocacy
- Empower consumers/family members with improved life self-help skills
Education and Outreach
- Explain member rights & responsibilities
- Prepare correspondence with and on behalf of the member
- Identify and distribute educational resources
- Assist with conflict resolution
- Assist consumers and family members with Health Choices information so that they can make informed choices

Mission
The role of the Recovery and Resiliency Specialist is to advise members and their families about Health Choices behavioral health services. The specialist also provides assistance and/or information that can lead to informed consumer choices, empowerment, and recovery. The Recovery and Resiliency Specialist assists Health Choices members in discovering their own resiliency and path to recovery.
